General history:
“Couffi” was known for its priory-presbytery serving the Abbey of Selles. It was
historically part of the Diocese of Chartres and Bourges. The seigneury was
controlled by Saint- Aignan. Couffi changed its name to Couffy in 1998.

Archaeological Remains:
Paleolithic Bifaces (flint cutting tools), shards of
protohistoric pottery, Gallic and Roman coins, ancient Roman Road.
Special Local Sites: Country manor, locally called
the Castle. Restored 15th-century dovecot, that belonged to the Abbey of Selles.
St. Martin’s Church: 13th-century choir with two spans of ogival vaults,
sculpted culs-de-lanpe, and a triple flat chevet, 16th-century nave with three
ogival vault spans with sculpted keystones, lateral chapels and façade steeple
from1878. Archaeological exhibits. Valley of the Cher River. Banks of the Modon
Local resources and products:
Vineyards, AOC TOURAINE. Fish farming. Cooperative distillery. Goat’s
cheese.
